The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua GCFR, has approved the appointment of Barrister Roland Ewubare as the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission.
Mr. Ewubare, until his appointment, was a commissioner at the Nigerian Law Reform Commission. He is to take over from Mrs Kehinde Ajoni who has been recalled back to the Ministry.
Barrister Roland Ewubare, who was born on 31st May, 1967, hails from Delta State and had his higher education at the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he obtained a Bachelor of Law degree and was subsequently called to the Bar in 1988.
He became a British Council scholar in 1993 after obtaining his Master of Law degree from the University of London.
By 1998, Mr. Ewubare also obtained another Master of Law degree at the Harvard Law School. He was also a lecturer at the Nigeria Law School from 1993 to 1997 where he taught Corporate Law, Professional Ethics and other assigned courses.
He worked at various times as corporate counsel, executive director and general counsel and secretary to many local and international companies. He is also well travelled and his exposure coupled with his international experience is expected to enhance his performance and Nigeria’s human rights records.
Barrister Roland Ewubare is married with children.
